Are you looking to make the
step up from homeowner to property investor? Are you put off
by the price of housing in the United Kingdom? Well, why
don't you follow the estimated million Britons who already
own property abroad and make that investment overseas.
There has never been a better
time to buy a second home overseas, with an ever-increasing
number of destinations now popular among British buyers keen
to spot the next big boom before it arrives. This often
means
considering non-conventional destinations such as
Eastern Europe, South America and the Middle East.
The first place that Britons
started buying large amounts of property was Spain. From the
late Eighties onwards, it was not uncommon to buy a
retirement home "on the Costas" in order to live a better
lifestyle than offered to old people in the UK. In recent
years, interest in
property in Spain has cooled off slightly, as many parts
of the country no longer represent the bargain they once did
and other destinations become realistic alternatives. Sun
worshippers are now looking at
property in Brazil as a stable
investment, closer to the Equator. Another advantage of
buying in Brazil is that the cost of living is significantly
lower than in Europe and, as such, affords expatriots an
excellent lifestyle. Living somewhere like Brazil means that
you can save up for dream holidays, such as a cruise around
the Caribbean or a
Self drive tour USA.
Southern and eastern parts of
Europe have become favourites for British investors seeking
to combine a great investment opportunity with a wonderful
destination for holidays. The most popular choice has been
property in Bulgaria, although recent years have seen a
spike in enquiries about the availability of
property in Romania. Experts are suggesting that Romania
could well be the next "big" European destination and
earlier investors are likely to made better returns, not to
mention snap up the prime locations.
If you would rather have a
second (or third) home in the desert,
property in Dubai could be what you are looking for.
Billed as having three hundred and sixty five days of
sunshine a year,
Dubai is an oasis for the super-wealthy, including rock
stars, sports stars and successful businessmen. A different
atmosphere entirely can be found in Morocco, which also
benefits from great weather but has a distinct culture from
its neighbours.
Properties in Morocco represent a real bargain for
British people who are used to paying extortionate amounts
for living in anywhere neighbouring a nice part of
any major city.
It is always worth taking
expert advice before making any large investment,
particularly when this involves the transfer of money or
contracts overseas
